Seature Pattern

Hey guys! Hope you are all having a fantastic evening. I had my birthday party today (my birthday is Monday) and it was super fun. Thought I would share a recent pattern of an amigurumi I made a while back. I made it to be a fish, but all of my friends thought it was a whale. Let's just call it "seature" (sea. creature. Get it?)

Insomnia Bunny

Morning!

I couldn't sleep last night and I'm not feeling too well today, but I could still crochet last night! Traversing through Reddit, Ravelry, and multiple Facebook groups, I had been seeing so many pictures of the Ugly Bunny Pincushion. Bunnies might as well be the cutest thing in the entire world, so of course I had to make one. Unfortunately, the pattern called for DK weight yarn, and I prefer/ only have cotton in the color bunny I wanted to make. So, my bunny is rather large (I used an H hook and worsted weight), but I love him as much as a tiny bunny. I also ran out of yarn towards the end, so the arms are short and I could only make one stubby ear. To cover the misfortune, I made him a tiny hat.

What should I name him? I'm thinking Cam.

Right after being finished

If you would like to make your own bunny, you'll find the pattern here. I might be posting another pattern soon, so check back! Hope you're all having a great day.

Lindsey

Twisted Color Baby Hats

Hey everyone! It's a snow day here, and to keep myself busy I decided to make some baby hats. the only thing different is that I doubled up some medium weight yarn to make bulky yarn! When using bulky yarn, the hats work up much quicker, and also will be quite warmer for the babies. I have pretty much mastered the sizing of baby hats after making so many, but I had to adjust a bit for the bulkier yarn. Here is the pattern for the bulky yarn hats! Keep in mind, I make these to donate, so they are sized for newborns.

Super Easy and Quick Baby Hat Pattern

Things You’ll Need
  • K or 6.50 mm hook
  • 2 Colors of an aran or worsted weight yarn. I used Caron Simply Soft
  • Stitch Markers or Safety Pins

Techniques You Need to Know
  • Magic Circle
  • Crocheting in the Round
Lets get Started
  1. Pick two colors of a worsted weight or aran weight yarn of your choice. You will be doubling up the yarn, or crocheting with two strands at a time.
  2. Either do 6 hdc (Half Double Crochet) in Magic Circle or chain 6 and do 6 hdc in the second chain from the hook.
  3. Do 2 hdc in each hdc around (12 hdc)
  4. Do 2 hdc in first stitch, and one hdc in the next stitch. Repeat this across the round (18 hdc)
  5. Do 2 hdc in first stitch, and one hdc in the next two stitches. Repeat this across the round (24 hdc)
  6. Do 2 hdc in first stitch, and one hdc in the next three stitches. Repeat this across the round. (30 hdc)
  7. Hdc across the round, for three rounds (30 hdc)
  8. Sc (single crochet) across the round (30 sc)
  9. This part may be a little complicated for new crocheters, but this isn’t necessary. Fpsc (Front post single crochet) in first stitch, and then sc in next stitch. Repeat across the round. this creates a ribbed effect. To put it simply, you are just crocheting a sc in the “body” of the stitch rather than the two loops above it. Here is a tutorial http://crochetparfait.blogspot.com/p/fpsc-front-post-single-crochet.html

I decided to test out the hats on Rosie, my model.

Rosie approved.

Owl Amigurumi Pattern

Hello again!

A few months ago, I made a little amigarumi owl for my friend. I thought it was cute, so I wrote up a pattern for it. I originally put it on Ravelry and Etsy, but I think if something is cute everyone should be able to make it :) so here it is.

Colorful and Cute Amigurumi Owl Pattern

by Lindsey Knipe

Things You’ll Need
  • H or 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
  • 2 9mm Safety Eyes (any color)
  • Worsted Weight Yarn (Cotton Lily Sugar’n Cream Yarn used here)
    • One Color for Body
    • One Color for Eye Area
    • One Color for Beak
  • Yarn Needle
  • Sewing Needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch Markers or Safety Pins
  • Thread (any color)

Body for Owl
  1. Chain (ch) 15 in your choice of yarn for the body of the owl. With work still facing you, single crochet (sc) in the second ch from the hook. Working left, sc in each ch until the last one. In the last ch, 2sc.
  2. Turn your work so you are working on the other side of the original ch. Make 2 sc in the first ch, sc in each, 2sc in last. Repeat this around, until you get the appropriate width you would like your owl to be. I did this 2 times.
  3. For 12 rows, sc in each sc around. After this, it would be an appropriate time to attach the eyes, beak, arms, and mold the “ears”.
  4. Starting the next row, decrease in the first sc. Sc in each sc around, decreasing in the last sc and first sc. These “first” and “last” sc are the places where you made the 2 sc at first. Do this the same amount of times you did the rows of increases in step 2.
  5. Join (or make a slip stitch) in the back loops only of each sc.
  6. Do 1 row of sc around.
  7. Stuff -Fun part-
  8. Sew both sides of sc together.

Eyes and Arms
  1. Magic ring, or make 2 ch and make 6 sc in second ch from hook (I did the 6 sc).
  2. Make 2 sc in each sc around.
  3. Alternate between 2 sc and 1 sc in each sc around. Join at end, and leave yarn tail for sewing.
For the eyes: do them in one color ( I used white). Once complete, put the safety eyes in the center and insert both into where you see fit on the torso. I put them in the middle with a bit of space in between. Stitch them on with the yarn tail.

For the arms: fold the arm in half, and where the remaining yarn tail is, use your yarn needle to stitch half of the wing closed, so that the other half remains somewhat open. It should look a bit like a rose petal. Then attach on the sides, below the eyes, only where you stitched the wing together, that way it flares out and actually resembles a wing.

How to mold the ears: pinch the top corners of the rectangle torso you created. The pressure should force the top face in between the two side “ears” to concave. This creates the two pointy ears you can see in the picture above. To get them to stay this way, take your thread and sewing needle, and going through the inside of the torso, stitch where the concave top meets the sides of the torso.

Beak
  1. Ch 7
  2. Sc in each ch.
  3. Sew the two ends of the ch underneath where you placed the eyes, making a triangle beak.

Hello!

Hey everyone!

The past few months, I have gotten really into crocheting and knitting and would like to share some of my "adventures" along the way. I have a horrible attention span when it comes to this sort of thing, but I'm hoping maybe I can actually get a few good posts in.

I have a lot of anxiety and mental stuff, and use knitting and crocheting as therapy. Being able to make a successful product with my hands is one of the most rewarding things out there. The thing I make most of, baby hats, I actually donate to my local hospital. I have a few patterns I have made myself for infancy caps that I will make sure to write up and share in the future. For now, I would like to share a few pictures of finished objects from the past month

Knitted baby hat using Caron Perfect Match acrylic yarn in Country Basket Ombre (being blocked as we speak) Freehanded on 16 inch circular needles/
Crocheted skullcap using Caron Simply Soft (don't remember the color). Freehanded, will try to write a pattern soon.

Knitted phone case and first attempt at intarsia using Sugar n Cream. God, that hipster pose.

Bunny Amigurumi for my boyfriend. Sugar n Cream yarn as I use with all my Amigurumis :)

There are more, but these are a few of my favorites. Hope you are all having a great monday!
